She is the founder of Visava Social Foundation, which is transforming lives through her initiative, “Vruddhanchi Mauli,” an old-age home for the elderly.
Swati Mallikarjun Tarde was born on January 29, 1982, and is a well-known elder care social activist in Pune and a practicing nurse having more than three decades of voluntary service in healthcare and social work. She is the founder of Visava Social Foundation, a project that provides older people with care and shelter, with her project Vruddhanchi Mauli, and was born in Pune.Coming from a modest background, wherein her father was the provider to four children, Swati had to pick the nursing profession (ANM/GNM) out of necessity and a purpose. In the initial stages of her practice, she has worked in some of the best medical services of the country, such as Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital, Sangamner, and other nursing homes. But juggling between her personal and professional responsibilities, she had to go through a number of difficulties, but still had to take care of her extended family, comprising her in-laws and siblings. Her vision evolved, and at 35 years, she thought of something deeper, and that was helping the neglected and the old. She started Vruddhanchi Mauli three years ago, which has now turned into a healing home of more than 50 people.Like Sindhutai Sapkal, Swati aims at being a caring mother to the aged by not only providing them a place to shelter them but also to provide a sense of dignity and love.
Initiative: Vruddhanchi Mauli: A Home for the Elderly
Swati’s journey began amidst financial hardship and family responsibility. With limited resources, she entered the nursing profession not as a career choice but as a call to serve. She worked across top hospitals and nursing homes before realizing that her real purpose was to care for the forgotten elderly. Inspired by Sindhutai Sapkal, she now dedicates her life to providing a home filled with love and dignity for senior citizens.
