My journey toward fitness💪
I'm Dr. Smita Kadam. Pinkathon Ambassador, Yin and Hatha Yoga Teacher, Certified Nutrition Sports Exercise and Weight Management Certified Group Exercise and Fitness Trainer, Marathoner, Trekker, Motivator from Satara. I'm 35 yrs old, mother of two loving daughters. I love to be fit, reading motivational stories that inspire me to do better than yesterday.
My actual journey of fitness started when I put on weight of 63 kg and was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism in September 2016. The symptoms are unexplained weight gain, fatigue, hair fall, dryness of skin etc. This phase of my life was too tough for me and I decided to get out of this to become fit. But it's not at all manageable for me because it needs so much motivation, determination, consistency and hard work. I discussed it with my elder daughter and she said, "Yes Mamma U can do it". She is the one who motivated me throughout my journey of weight loss. I started it with Cycling. I started it with daily 10 km in the morning and 10 km in the evening. Gradually my stamina was built up and I started 20 km cycling at a time. And the result appeared surprisingly, I lost 13 kg weight ie from 63 kg to 50 kg and now I'm 47 Kg. "My secret of weight loss is proper workout regime, healthy and clean diet, 7-8 hrs sleep, positive mind, inner self-belief, hard work to achieve my goal and no excuses."
My actual running journey started in August 2018. I did my first 5 k as a fun run with my friends. My first 21 K was SHHM which is a dream run for many. I became Pinkathon Ambassador in 2018 and started following Milind Soman Sir who is a big motivator for thousands of women and many amazing runners. I'm Pinkathon Ambassador for the last 3 yrs I love to motivate women for their fitness, healthy diet, because if the woman in the family is fit the entire family will be fitter 💪. I conducted 100 free training sessions till date and still going on virtually due to Covid 19. I empowered hundreds of women who didn't know about fitness. I feel so proud when they give me blessings. In Pinkathon Day 2019 I got 2nd position for the highest number of female participants throughout 200+ worldwide locations. And I got a chance to go live with Milind Soman and this is the best achievement for me till date. This year due to Covid 19 we celebrated our Pinkathon Day virtually. I took everyday free training sessions for women. I went live on FB with experts and talk about Diet and Nutrition, Importance of Yoga, Strength Training, Journey of Non runner to Comrades Runner and Iron man, Menstrual Cup, Breast Cancer Awareness etc... I have done many half marathons and my PB for HM is 2.16 hrs. Also did pacing for many marathons. I achieved so many finishing medals and Pacer trophies. Every run is a new challenge, a new experience, new learning for me.
I love marathons because you met so many new runners who motivate you to do your best even they don't know you. The journey of marathons is a long way to go. I have to do many popular marathons in my bucket list. I hope my story can inspire those who want to take their first step towards fitness. Believe me if I can,so you can. I'm so proud of being a small part of this running community. Let's empower and motivate women toward fitness.
