Madhavi Shawrikar, an Artist from Bhopal and Founder of Prayas Art Gallery, stands as a true example of determination, creativity, and resilience. A postgraduate in Political Science from Morena, Madhya Pradesh, she rediscovered her artistic passion during the challenging days of the pandemic. Balancing household responsibilities, she would dedicate her nights from 9 PM to midnight to craft beautiful décor items and handmade bags not for profit, but from pure love for art. Encouraged by well-wishers who recognized the value of her creations, Madhavi decided to organize a small Diwali exhibition in her home garage. The response was heartwarming, and it gave her the confidence to take her art further. In 2022, she participated in her first international exhibition organized by MAWE (Madhya Pradesh Association of Women Entrepreneurs) at Bhopal’s prestigious Minto Hall. This milestone marked her transformation from a homemaker to a recognized businesswoman, proudly joining the MSME network. Since then, she has showcased her work in several exhibitions each year, gradually earning respect and recognition as one of the most talented artists from Bhopal. Her passion led her and her husband an engineer and fellow art enthusiast to convert their home’s upper floor into an art gallery. Thus, Prayas Art Gallery was born a unique space where husband and wife bring art and emotion together under one roof. In 2024, on the gallery’s first anniversary, 21 esteemed artists from Bhopal exhibited their paintings, inaugurated by a Padma Shri award-winning artist a proud and emotional moment for Madhavi. Her journey from a small-town girl to an Artist Title Achiever from Bhopal reflects her unwavering belief: “Without passion, art cannot shine.”
Today, she continues to inspire others through her exhibitions, workshops, and online art presence, proving that creativity, when nurtured with dedication, can turn dreams into destiny.
