When Packiaselvi was born, her family was living in a small village close to Nagercoil, almost waiting for daybreak from the darkness of financial woes to find any hope in education. It was he who helped her through polytechnic education, upon which laid the foundation of her career.
Packiaselvi, having unyielding determination, went to Chennai and began her civil engineering career. She rose through the ranks of engineering and got herself a Grade I Structural Engineer License against all odds. She went ahead to establish Jeny Home Planners and Builders, a name to contend with in a male-dominated construction field.
She raised her daughter single-handedly, who soon became a doctor. Experiences in motherhood stoked Packiaselvi's passion for women's education and empowerment endeavors.
A self-made entrepreneur, Packiaselvi established Jeny Home Planners and Builders to provide quality construction services while ensuring structural integrity and safety in every project.
Understanding the challenges of working women and students, she created Jeny Home Ladies Hostel, which offers safe accommodation, unlimited food, and essential facilities including for blind women.

Packia Selvi’s journey to success started with not much in the way of resources but a whole lot of determination. From 1989 to 1993, she worked in various roles within the Public Works Department (PWD), where she contributed to irrigation projects and handled office tasks. Eventually, she made a shift to architectural design, mastering AutoCAD and picking up essential technical skills along the way. In 1996, fueled by a strong desire for independence and a sense of purpose, she launched her own firm in Avadi, Chennai.
As she navigated her professional life, her personal mission began to take shape she wanted to create a safe and nurturing space for women like herself to learn, work, and flourish. As a single mother, she raised a daughter who has now become a doctor. Her own experiences deepened her commitment to empowering women, which led her to establish the Women Empowerment Trust and the Jeny Home Ladies Hostel.
