The story of Vijayalakshmi is that of transformation, purpose, and service. She has been a student of Nutrition and Dietetics since she is interested in being helpful to other people. She went through several setbacks where she was in several jobs like banking, interior design, and many others before she could be called into education. She encountered major personal issues, such as infertility, which influenced her attitude towards emotional health. Painting and art were her emotional therapy, and an MBA and child-psychology dedicated studies finally led her to her right path. Her Glowing Minds Montessori Preschool, launched in 2018, merges the emotional with academic education. She developed a center in the face of profound personal and financial loss, including the passing of her husband, and with limited family support, and continues to develop the center today as a beacon of care and education.
She started a pre-school in the Mylapore neighborhood, which initially had only two children and now serves more than a hundred students. In her path, she has garnered many awards and recognition, among them being the Pride of Mylapore Award, Best Human Award, An Entrepreneur Award, and the Women Iconics Award (2025). Her work has also been published in magazines like Forever Women, MS Global Magazine, and Height of Success. She is soon to be given an Honorary Doctorate by the World Human Rights Council Commission.
While being on a journey as a psychological counsellor for children in Chennai, Vijayalakshmi had a stable career in banking, but she quit the job after marriage to be able to satisfy her family responsibilities. She and her husband even tried a business in interior design, but it became unsuccessful. It was during this hectic period that she resorted to painting as a therapeutic medication and found her strength within. She later studied MBA, Montessori education, and finally established Glowing Minds. She was repeatedly unsuccessful in business, and family members were very against her being involved in it, yet she managed to create a new life around children's education and nurturing. Her life was transformed, and she is an example of how powerful resilience, self-belief, and the love of children are; this is how she became an award-winning psychological counsellor for children in Chennai.
