SHE FOR SOCIETY (R)
An initiative towards awareness
A few notable projects we executed last year were:
1) We provided stationery, note books and bus passes for 250 students studying in a Government High School at Yediyur, Bengaluru (For one academic year)
2) We provided relief materials worth ₹1,00,000 each for the unfortunate victims that suffered from the Kerala floods
and Coorg floods last year.
3) We sponsored Cash prizes to Awake Vishwa Seva Foundation, an educational institution for the Visually impaired students for a quiz competition and food for all of them every year.
4) Event of the year –
This Event was my Brain Child.
The Planning, Execution, Sponsorships, Marketing, Media , Police permissions all these functions were part of the organizing process,it was all handled by myself and while this was a herculean task it was very fulfilling and was a wonderful experience. This was one of a kind of which which has never happened before. RAISED FUNDS TO FELICITATE FAMILIES OF MARTYRED JAWANS BY ORGANISING WOMEN BIKERS PARADE- ON 26th Jan 2020. This bike ride was to celebrate the 71st republic day and we Felicitated 6 families of martyred army Jawans who have fought for our peace and well being, so we decided to give back to those great families that have served our nation by showing our gratitude. What started as a wish 2 months ago turned into reality on the morning of the 71st Republic Day; 26th January 2020. She for Society, a social service organisation created by me , with biking as my passion , to make a difference and to give back to the society through women empowerment ,organised the first women-only Republic Day Ride in Bengaluru. A one of a kind event; the intent of the ride was to felicitate the families of martyred army jawans. Over 500 people gathered at 5 am at Freedom Park in Bengaluru awaiting the flag off that happened sharp at 6.30 am! (No mean feat)The sight of 140 bikes, including 15 women police , open air gypsy’s and elegant vintage cars parked in a formation along with the enthusiasm and excitement of dancing with the dolukunitha team were surreal. Roughly 350 people, including skaters, riders and women police took on the streets of Bengaluru, passing through several famous heritage sites of the city, namely Vidhana Soudha. Dressed in the vibrant tri-colour costumes they represented patriotism, the strength of unity and camaraderie. The ride saw pillion riders and women driving taking charge of the open roads in gypsy’s waving the national flags exhibiting the spirit of patriotism. With the help of Mysore Sainik Board and army personnel working in Siachen; Subedar Karuna Gowda, 6 families of martyred army jawans in Karnataka were honoured. Kum. Shobha Karandlage (Member of Parliament )and Captain. Bhavana Kasturi (the first woman in the history of the Indian Army to lead an all-male contingent consisting of 144 men on Army day 2019) were the chief guests for the event . The event ended with smiles and hugs and a promise to continue riding, empowering women and making 2020 a memorable year for as many lives around as possible. 5) Our upcoming project – Desi Cow Donation Drive
