Badhya Lama

Badhya Lama, born on September 19, 1973. February 2, 2001 she joined Education Department Government of Sikkim as GT Arts. On 2013, she appointed as Post graduate teacher. She actively fostered leadership and confidence in students.

Her Journey

Apart from teaching, she tried her best to inculcate leadership qualities and boost the confidence of her students. With the help of AIDS cell, Health Department she started with Red Ribbon Club in Pangthang Junior High school in 2009 to spread awareness among children and guardians about communicable diseases. She also wrote school song and produced a music video for the same.

In Bhojoghari SSS she worked many projects Drink boiled Water Project, Pencil Project and Take a Jacket Project with the help of her students, family and friends. She was able to distribute stationeries, sweaters and jackets to underprivileged children and locals of Bhojoghari area. Other activities include taking students to Visit to Old Age home, Orphanage and painting of Shiva mandir.

She was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2018. She went through all the phases of denial anger isolation and finally acceptance. In mid 2022, she thought "I shouldn't let a disease define me". It took her a while to get back to being 'normal'. It was the same year she wrote a school song for Government Senior Secondary school, Sichey. Every day was a struggle but from 2022, she slowly pulled herself together. She gave thanks to the unwavering support of doctors, family and friends.

Success Story

She worked Government Secondary school Makha, Pangthang Junior High school, Bhojoghari Senior Secondary school and Government Senior Secondary school, Sichey. She has worked as a Resource person for the department and sometimes act as a judge for writing competitions. She has also written a school song for Sichey SSS where she is currently posted. In Bhojoghari SSS, she sponsored three students for music classes and even bought a keyboard for one
