There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread” – Mahatma Gandhi

Roti Charity Trust, a registered NGO based out of Bengaluru, Karnataka was founded in October 2016 by Mr.Syed Gulab.

The Trust is an idea, an emotion transformed into action, a proof that if the will is strong and the intent is noble then nothing can come in the way of doing good in the world, spreading love and fostering peace. The journey of our founder began after witnessing the stark inequalities in life, all around us.

We are a small team of individuals, committed to helping feed the poor and needy as best as we can. To those that we are able to reach and help, we are like friends and family just like they are to us. One of our key tasks is to feed the poor attenders and bystanders of patients, who are admitted in hospitals in the city. The aid in hospitals only supports the patients. Many of the poor who come to the city from far and wide with relatives and caretakers have to choose between paying for a meal or buying medicine for the patient.

Our primary activity was to serve free freshly cooked meals to the people in dire need. Keeping this as an objective we are happy to share that we have been doing this from past 4 yrs without any interruptions and have served more than 6,00,000/- meals and counting till date.

We also started distributing free breakfast at the same spot from past 2 yrs.

We are aided by the volunteers, who help us everyday in the preparation and delivery of free food to almost 600 people. We have a small office housing a kitchen where we cook the food we distribute everyday. We have a dedicated bunch of well minded folks from various walks of life who show up everyday to help us in our mission.

Based on the activites carried on by the organisation our founder was honoured by the state govt for his services with the Kempegowda Award 2019 handed over by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka Sri. BS Yediyurappa.

A man with no sound financial background to boast of or fall back on, our founder Mr. Syed Gulab has kept this program going on everyday despite having faced several hardships. Due to the well wishes of all our supporters and the people we have touched, we are proud to state that nothing has stopped us till date from pursuing our goal since inception.

COVID -19 Work

COVID-19 has become a global pandemic.

But together we can lend our support to those who need it the most.

In light of the recent events the Government of India had annouced a nationwide lockdown w.e.f 23-Mar-2020. We started our campaign “Feedthedailywager” during this lockdown period by providing food kits to the people in dire need.

Our bit comes in the form of helping provide food kits which may contain supplies enough for a few days for a small family. We are reaching out to the most vulnerable and the people who are at high-risk. The kits will contain basic items like Rice-5Kg, Atta-10kg,Oil-1ltr,Spices packets,Dal-1kg and Sugar-1kg.

We majorly trageted the daily wagers who were left in lurch due to the lockdown without work and money.  We had identified such people in large numbers who were residing in labour camps in and around Bengaluru City, most of them being migrant workers involved in construction activities.

We distributed close to 12,000 food kits(dry ration) which would suffice a family for a week's time in partnership with other organisations.

As part of the COVID work we also distributed close to 20,000 noodles packets, biscuits to the children and needy.

We also distributed face masks during our food kit distribution drive.

We can do this and get through this difficult time only if we are standing up for each other.

There is not much many people have, like the poor, the homeless, seniors without income support, migrant workers who are stuck due to this pandemic etc help us them feed.
