Hello everyone. I am Raktima Mitra from World of Wonders. I have come today to share my experiences during this lockdown period. Yes it is a tough situation for a working mother like me. Being the Administrator of an International School, I hold a very important position and have immense responsibilities. Apart from that I have a son who is a complete foodie.  Both of us,  are busy in the morning as online classes are on but but I never ever failed to pursue my passion. I and my son both are undergoing online trainings on different artforms. Our 7 members  in the group are well connected and we recently started making masks.    Now how is that possible when no shops are open? Where did we get the raw material from? Actually we make tshirts, blouses, Kurtis and dupattas. As a result there is always a small quantity in the cloth which remains excess. So we used all these material and the chords and ropes which we use to make jewellery to make designer masks. To welcome a new era as the name goes..... THE NEW NORMAL, we will introduce our masks in the market very shortly. The designs are being created keeping in mind the festive season, the various  age groups, the genders and our varied culture and tradition. We have distributed masks to the needy. From the beginning of the lock down period, we have contributed to various local groups and bodies to distribute ration and other essentials. Bengal is in a poor state these days immediately after the deadly storm,  Amphan. Anybody approaching us, to send aid to these areas have been well contributed by us.

COVID -19 Work

We are currently working for the Bengal artisans who are in deep trouble because of the pandemic situation. No orders for them to execute. Local bodies at times are helping them. We are helping monetarily. Shared a video where these artisans are narrating their current situation through their paintings. They are all restricted to stay at home. We had a talk with two of our artisans who are looking out for options beyond the State boundary. We are trying to build up a market, generate enquiries and involving them once again so that their contribution towards our rich culture and heritage do not get hampered during the lock down situation.
We have recently collaborated with an organisation to produce masks and have started distributing free of cost to the localities.
Through two groups, we have been informed to deliver medicines and groceries to the elderly people during the lock down period. We managed to get an Essential Service tag and have been doing so. Now we get calls from these senior citizens whenever they are in need. Being a part of an International School, we have contributed a day's salary for the welfare of all the needy people around.
