Sonia started the NGO based in Ludhiana, Punjab, with a clear and simple vision of changing the situation of the underprivileged masses by bringing a smile to their faces. Together with Mrs. Manju Sethi, the Vice President, she has worked to build Mission Smile as a powerful organization led by women and focused on personal engagement rather than financial contributions in constructing an authentic relationship with the people in need. In the last 7 years, Sonia and her team have coordinated an incredibly broad variety of activities, including celebrations of festivals with slum children and elderly mothers, fashion shows, magic performances, stitching lessons, and summer camps with the most needy girls. They have exceeded support in times of natural calamities, they have offered dialysis services to the patients, they have offered necessities during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they have been offering support to the farmers during their protest. Their considerate acts have also reached transgenders, daily wage earners, vegetable sellers, balloon vendors, and security guards, so that no members of these classes ever feel unseen or unloved.

Besides being a social service agent, Sonia is a blogger, beauty pageant victor, poet, and influencer. She has appeared on Zee Punjabi and leads a team of 100 women who advocate the activities of Mission Smile.
