Rashmi Swarnakar, a prosperous artist, educator, and cultural leader located in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was born in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand into a family of art. Rashmi had having two well-known vocalists in her family line her grandfather and father. There was a huge influence on her early appreciation for music and dance because of them. Rashmi blended that with a scientific approach when she earned her B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from Vinoba Bhave University, and later she earned M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry and M.Ed. from Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University.

She’s the Founder and Director of the Bhartiya Sangeet Kala Kendra and brings over 15 years of rich experience to the table. Rashmi holds impressive academic credentials, including a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from Vinoba Bhave University, an M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, and an M.Ed., both from Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University. Additionally, she has earned professional arts certifications from Pracheen Kala Kendra, showcasing her talents in Classical Music (Sangeet Bhaskar), Kathak Dance (Nritya Bhaskar), and Fine Arts (Chitra Bhaskar).
Rashmi was born in the district of Hazaribagh, and music has been a cornerstone of her life from a very early age. Since childhood, her home resonated with ragas and rhythmical footwork, nurturing her formative sensibility. After completing her schooling at Mount Carmel School, Rashmi was an achiever across disciplines, both academic and co-curricular, and was a regular participant (often a winner) in music, dance, and creative arts competitions.
In 2004 she completed her undergraduate studies and moved to Raipur after marrying her husband. Despite moving cities, her new family commitments, and her shift into adulthood, Rashmi never abandoned her aspirations. In fact, she moved to study postgraduate coursework in Chemistry, and obtain professional qualifications in music, dance, and art.
Rashmi started her career journey as an educator of Chemistry and Assistant Professor at an engineering college, but after experiencing health issues, she boldly moved on from academia to listen to her calling. That bold turn was the beginning of a significant shift in her life.
She has established the Bhartiya Sangeet Kala Kendra, an institution devoted to developing and promoting India’s traditional heritage in music, dance, and fine arts. For 15 years now, this institute has been a place for creativity and exploration, learning and healing, and nurturing talent.
She developed a great work-life balance with the help of her husband, Arvind Kumar Swarnakar, and with their two children, Aarav and Aarya. Today, her journey inspires so many young artists, women, and dreamers in India.
