From her formative years surrounded by art in every shape and science, to launching an institution to inspire creation in others, her life has literally been a tale of tenacity, intention, and spirit.

Honored by Forever Star India as the Super Woman 2025 in the Artist category from Raipur, she serves as a role model for countless women who dare to think bigger than societal structures. She has trained over 10,000 students and 500+ teachers who have found not just skill, but identity and self-confidence.

Rashmi has adeptly coordinated numerous competitions and exhibitions at the national level, advocating for youth participation in arts to promote and grow the love of culture and the arts. As a freelance fine artist and art therapist, she embodies the concept of healing through creativity. She shows that art, when channelized in the right way, becomes an important vehicle for achieving emotional wellness.

In the her own words, Rashmi sees her greatest success in taking personal dreams of her own and using them as a platform to build up others, and also creating something from the inside out - infused with passion, gratitude and purpose.

Rashmi was born in the district of Hazaribagh, and music has been a cornerstone of her life from a very early age. Since childhood, her home resonated with ragas and rhythmical footwork, nurturing her formative sensibility. After completing her schooling at Mount Carmel School, Rashmi was an achiever across disciplines, both academic and co-curricular, and was a regular participant (often a winner) in music, dance, and creative arts competitions.

In 2004 she completed her undergraduate studies and moved to Raipur after marrying her husband. Despite moving cities, her new family commitments, and her shift into adulthood, Rashmi never abandoned her aspirations. In fact, she moved to study postgraduate coursework in Chemistry, and obtain professional qualifications in music, dance, and art.

Rashmi started her career journey as an educator of Chemistry and Assistant Professor at an engineering college, but after experiencing health issues, she boldly moved on from academia to listen to her calling. That bold turn was the beginning of a significant shift in her life.

She has established the Bhartiya Sangeet Kala Kendra, an institution devoted to developing and promoting India’s traditional heritage in music, dance, and fine arts. For 15 years now, this institute has been a place for creativity and exploration, learning and healing, and nurturing talent.

She developed a great work-life balance with the help of her husband, Arvind Kumar Swarnakar, and with their two children, Aarav and Aarya. Today, her journey inspires so many young artists, women, and dreamers in India.

Additionally, she has earned professional arts certifications from Pracheen Kala Kendra, showcasing her talents in Classical Music (Sangeet Bhaskar), Kathak Dance (Nritya Bhaskar), and Fine Arts (Chitra Bhaskar).
