Smita Chatterji, is a painter and a first generation entrepreneur; she is the founder CEO of Centreax Technologies and Shu Sam & Smith a brand owned by Centreax Textiles. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Strategic use of IT and total quality management, and several certifications from QAI, Cisco and Microsoft.
With 20 years of experience she has held several leadership positions in strategic business planning, front line leadership and change management. Smita is one of the first women entrepreneurs to work in the area of Tea Sustainability and Traceability and she is also the first women entrepreneur in India to have built a software solution for Tea Traceability. She has worked extensively in various domains like the Chemical Industry, Tea and Agro Industry, Education and Insurance.
Her role in innovation and implementation of protective and safety measures in the chemical industry has been featured by The Indian Chemical Council in Chemical News.
Smita specializes in integrated strategic transformation of processes to maximize human performance. She has spearheaded her team into the conceptualization, development and implementation of complex processes and technology in the Tea & Agro Industry.
Her passion lies in promoting entrepreneurship among women and she has adopted three small-scale “all women” apparel manufacturing units for Centreax Textiles. Smita very fondly says, “Our apparels are proudly made in India, by women and for women”. She has implemented zero tolerance policies towards dowry and harassment in her organization, and is a strong advocate for women’s growth and development.
